returning to guildwars
Okey so I decided to restart playing GW when the preview event was on. I started to remember how much I really liked this game, the great graphics, fun skill combinations etc. So I restarted playing on my mesmer, who was on the mission (vizunah square (foriegn square)). Then I started to remember why I stopped playing GW. First try togo dies due to lack of healing from the other hench team. Second time this happens again even though there was 5 people in it this time. Next time I got into a good group and even though there wasn't anotehr team we got to the third big fight, but then mehnlo died because we had only henchies as healers (our mistake I admit). The next time the same thing happened as the first two with teh same team. Then I tried with hench and right at the start tehy were bugged and ran strait to where togo is and died. Then we managed to do the third big fight, and I disconnected. Next time Togo dies again, and the next someone quits for gvg and everyon else quits. Then I get into a good full player group, get up to the third big fight again, but mehnlo and togo are bugged and have got stuck, so the fighting there isn't triggered, and we have to resign. Then I try one more time with that team and togo dies. Then I give up.
Bear in mind too that there isn't many people doing this so it takes a long time to get a group.
Sorry for the rant but it really annoyed me because only once out of all those times was it my teams fault that we died, so it wasn't through lack of skill that we failed, it was just bad luck, and I don't think that's a good thing. Now I'm really thinking about stopping playing again.
Sorry for reading my rant but it really annoyed me and wasted loads of time. Anyone else have problems like this?

Sadly this is not because of the mission, this is not because of game mechanics, how its build, amount of enemies, its sheer incompetence of the average guild wars players.
Ok not the bugs but the dying of Togo is,im sorry you guys but the average guild wars player is an utter fool and id be surprised of such a person even passed kindergarden.
Now this might just be me,but every mission i do i get paired with robitic dimwits, who are so silent it mightaswell be a single-player RPG,the way they play is even weaker then youre average henchmen, and when it requires a bit of thinking or teamwork they fail miserably.
This entire community, how someone is viewed as good or bad,and the average skill and intelligence of youre average player,is,once again im sorry, pathetic.
Edit:Sounds like the other team failed btw.
The thing that bothers me is this:Guild Wars is a good game,a VERY good game, and it saddens me to see it ruined by those who dont appreciate it,those i meet have no intrest in the storyline,no intrest in the thrill of battle,no intrest in the skill and pleasure of combat itself,no,all they have an intrest in is gogogo rush rush rush, play out game, get uber weapons, get expansive armor, and do it again.
I might be overreacting but thats how i feel, and its a turn off for me.
Youre problem with this is that its probably far to hard to get anything done in this game with this community.

vizunah square is a PITA if the other team sucks. I once had a lvl 6 necro with full henches as the other team... stuff like that screw you over.
Eventually you will get it done. I advise you to try when it is night time 5-6PM PST, as there's more adults that came home from work.

Eh, with the "bug" going around of rangers/casters running into melle range, that might now work out either. For instance, I just recently re-created my assassin and need to get him through Sunjiang District, but I keep losing because Mhenlo runs into melle range and gets spiked down by 20 afflicted, thus causing the whole party to lose. Sure henches are better than a normal PUG for a lot of things, this "bug" has stopped my assassin cold in his tracks of progressing through the factions campaign, just because Mhenlo wants to be a warrior.
But, like most things, it's all situational.

European.
And yes it is annoying how people don't co-oporate. I have been playing wow for a while, and because it's not all insatnced, at high levels everyone does try hard because it is not the norm. Also you can do these instances with teh guild, on guildwars though I rarely do misions with my guild because it is unlikely they have the same one to do.
Also I think the fact that GW is free does attract some really imature people, I think they mainly come from runescape or somethign which is tottaly full of scams and cheats.
With guildwars I'm alsways wishing there was some sort of server with all the serious people who want to get good and enjoy the game.

From everything that I've seen and my own opinion-based answer, I absolutely and completely agree with Superdarth, the amount of players that lack logic and problem solving skills is just an enormous amount. Often times, they either insult you for doing something correctly or end up overextending, dying, then blaming you.
Again, this is just in my perspective, but I would just go with the heroes or your friends, guildmates, just basically people you know, and that are somewhat educated.

This is what I picture when I encounter a bad player.
I picture some 11 year old with 2 larger than normal front teeth that is smiling but your not sure why. To the naked eye it would appear he is having fun and concentrating but if you slow down the video tape!! you can actually see ninja turtles and power rangers that dance around him and offer him cookies. you can't compete with that!! so his attention is forever lost.

errrrmmmm...no. I love a challenging game. It's just that all the times I tried it but one we lost because of something we could do nothing about! And about the second part, when you're in a good one it's much better and funner, afterall it's an MMO. Also taking henchies is unfair on the other team.

My advice would be to play in prime time when there are a lot of people on and try to get in a master group. These guys are there not only to finish the mission but to do this within a time limit. Most likely these guys are decent players who are going for the protector title. Give it the best you got.
A good MM is a must in this mission imo.

It's a shame you feel that way, but trust me, that mission is a bitch. Maybe you should play some pvp? Go to tyria? Start a new char? The possibilities are endless, my good cheese.

This game is community based....whitch means that UNLIKE any other games arround, a REALY AWESOME player can't save a bad party....every single member have to do their part otherwise its a complete faillure... The warriors need the monks to heal, that needs the necros to provide cover, that needs the rangers to deal damage and so on... The 8 skill thing requires all the party memebers to coordinate their skills in order to succeed.
NOT that this happens everytime, but I would say 99% of the game is fundamented in this conccept....
What this means is that PUG's will most surely fail... This also means, that henchs are cappable of doing 70% of the game w/ out much trouble IF you know how to handle them...in any sittuation, the blame is on you:
1. for getting into average PUG's...not taking some time arranging a balanced party that at least knows how to play their build....
2. for poor controll over henchs that (even whith the melee blablabla) are still far more capable then ANY average PUG player....
These facts are not a problem only on GW, they happen on EVERY SINGLE ONLINE RPG arround...they are just a little worse in GW cause we have TONS of kiddies running arround that simply doesn't have suficient brain to play this kind of game (no monthly fee's bad side) and comment I made on the first paragraph.
I have been playing this for 17 months now, and I experienced all the problems you described at some point of my gameplay....but nowadays I can just make alliance / guild / friend's partties and get every single mission done pretty fast (even the most difficult ones)....so, before you rant away and start thinking that the game sucks or some other rellated comments to the entire community or so, start re-thinking how you get into the partys you are playing whith...
Latter.

I wish ya the best of luck getting through Vizunah. For w/e reason I haven't had a problem finishing this mission the many times I've been through it, only really had issues like yours when I try to do the deed for Master's on my various characters.
Have to call it luck of the draw. Can only suggest you take a break between attempts until you find a group that can help ya get through this.

o.o either way you still have a restriction on the amount of people in your party. Pre-searing has a much lower max party members when compared to the rest of the game.
You could talk to people in town in pre or post, so I don't see how socialism maxes out.

You need to learn to control the hench better. The hench will heal togo/mhenlo if you stay near him. To keep the hench near him, target NPC monsters that are nearby him.
